"The Forest" is a first level of "Back To School" custom campaign for Left 4 Dead 2 game and a first level that I've designed and created from scratch for the campaign. Despite the fact that the visual part of this level was constantly changing during development, the gameplay part remained almost unchanged from my very first sketches in 2009. This huge rural level contains two new custom "panic events" and two main paths for survivors team. Active path and panic event both are determined by player's skill and can be changed accordingly. "Having abandoned a cozy forest camp, heroes struggle out of thickets to a forester house. Forester has barricaded the gorge, but infected dashed from the other side. Not much a lone sniper can do against a tank. A little farther, there is a fortified military post that blocks a tunnel to prevent the spread of infection. But panic is worse than infection, military post is devastated, escape routes are cut, so heroes have to follow the path of several despaired soldiers, who entrenched themselves in an abandoned mine."
